Program description

WoodGreen’s Redwood Program is a six-bed, gender-specific, live-in treatment, open custody, and open detention program for young males who are living with mental health challenges. Youth are referred through courts and probation services.

The program aims to reduce youth involvement in the criminal justice system and support reintegration into the community. Staff work closely with clients to create individualized case management plans based on their strengths and risk factors. The program is staffed 24/7 by youth workers, with professional counsellors providing additional mental health support.

Clients also have access to WoodGreen’s other youth justice programs, including PATH, Youth Mental Health Court Worker, and Youth Justice Mental Health Access.

The Redwood Program includes a school component to help clients address their challenges and work toward returning to mainstream education. Daily programming features three academic periods and one therapeutic treatment period focused on skills such as anger management, communication, relationship building, self-esteem, responsibility, stress management, substance use awareness, and problem solving. Students participate actively in planning their programs and goals.

Our progam is accredited by the Canadian Centre for Accreditation (CCA) and licensed by the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care.

This program was previously run by Turning Point Youth Services, which has now integrated with WoodGreen. Click here to learn more.
