Program Description

Job hunting in Canada can be frustrating when you’re new to Canada and don’t know where to start or how to overcome barriers.

 

We’re here to help!

 

Our Personalized Career Accelerator program (formerly known as Mentoring Pathways to Employment) will prepare you to succeed in a Canadian job search and connect you with a mentor with shared experiences who can support your journey.

 

Our team offers:

  • Individualized one-to-one employment counselling provided by a WoodGreen employment consultant through Integrated Employment Services
  • Job-ready workshops designed to fine-tune your job search skills to maximize your competitiveness.
  • Mentoring partnerships that connect you to people in your industry for industry-specific insights and to enhance your network.
  • Networking opportunities to give you exclusive access to employers and industry-specific events.
  • Settlement counselling to connect you with resources, support, and opportunities to meet other people.

 

 

Eligibility:

  • This program is for internationally trained professionals with a post-secondary education who have a minimum of 2 years of work experience in the same field from outside of Canada.
  • It is funded by Employment Ontario and Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). In this program we are only allowed to serve Convention Refugees and Permanent Residents.
  • Participants are required to have a minimum English CLB level of 6.
  • Participants must be eligible for Integrated Employment Services (IES) at WoodGreen.
  • Please note that International Students, Refugee Claimants and Work Permit Holders are not eligible for this program, however you can contact our Settlement Services for support.

FAQ

  • What are the eligibility criteria for residing in Canada?

    You must be either a Permanent Resident or a Convention Refugee.

     

    NOTE: In this program we are only allowed to serve Convention Refugees and Permanent Residents (unfortunately Refugee Claimants, International Students and Work Permit holders are ineligible).

  • What proficiency level in English is required?

    A minimum CLB level 6 is required.

  • Does participation in this program guarantee employment?

    No, the program prepares you for the current job market, with Job Coaches and Mentors available to assist you in navigating and expanding your network.

  • How often will I have meetings with my mentor?

    Meeting frequency is flexible and determined by mutual agreement between you and your mentor.
