Program Description
WoodGreen’s counselling service for newcomers offers short, one-time sessions to help individuals work through personal and emotional challenges. Support may focus on concerns such as stress, anxiety, low mood, anger, or difficulties related to work, school, and relationships.
During each session, clients are supported to identify what matters most to them and explore practical strategies that can help create positive change. Counselling is provided by registered professionals, including social workers and psychotherapists, with support from trained staff, students, and volunteers working under professional supervision.

Diploma in Early Childhood Education for Newcomers
WoodGreen’s Newcomer Programs and Services is launching a new cohort of the Early Childhood Education Diploma Program for Newcomers, delivered in partnership with George Brown Polytechnic.

With English Language training, newcomers can expand employment opportunities and access government services and community resources. We provide child care during class and support with transportation expenses for our in-person sessions.

The Newcomer Settlement Program (NSP) provides a range of settlement and employment services for immigrants and refugees. Offered at multiple locations.

We work with immigrants and refugees to access affordable housing resources, employment opportunities and government services, including health care. We can also address questions regarding citizenship, permanent residency and work permits.

Newcomers of all ages, including Permanent Residents, Convention Refugees, Protected Persons, Naturalized Canadian Citizens, Refugee Claimants, Temporary Foreign Workers and International Students. Program exemptions include Canadian-born citizens, visitors and visitor visa holders.
The Newcomer Community Integration Program (NCIP) works to address barriers experienced by newcomer immigrants and refugees who identify as women. We help to improve access to supports and opportunities that foster social and economic integration.

Designed for youth who are new to Canada, this program offers recreational, skill-building and mental health services, working with young newcomers as they make friends and settle into their new home.

Construction Project Management for Internationally Trained Individuals
This training program will enable internationally trained professionals to be acquainted with the Ontario Construction Industry and prepare for project management, project coordination, and related roles in the construction sector.

Applicants must have international training and experience in a skilled construction-related field, English proficiency at CLB 6 or higher, and be a Permanent Resident, Canadian citizen, or refugee claimant with an open work permit.
The Youth Wellness Centre is a welcoming and inclusive space offering a range of services, including financial counselling, settlement programs, mental health support and access to community-based services to find supportive housing and employment opportunities.
WoodGreen offers free Pre-Apprentice and Trades Programs, catering to newcomers and those facing employment barriers to provide a pathway to high-demand trades. Participants undergo assessments for grade 12 Math and English and engage in Academic Upgrading to develop essential communication and numeracy skills for entry into skilled trades.

The Personalized Career Accelerator program (formerly known as Mentoring Pathways to Employment) helps skilled newcomers to succeed in a Canadian job search and connects them with a mentor with shared experiences who can support their journey.

Delivered in partnership with George Brown College, this free training program is designed to prepare women and gender-diverse individuals for entry-level work in the manufacturing sector. The program includes Academic Upgrading, CNC/Precision Machining training, and the opportunity for a paid job placement.
