Program description

Homeward Bound is an innovative wrap-around program supporting homeless or inadequately housed single mothers to earn college diplomas, start careers and achieve financial self-sufficiency. Peterborough participants are encouraged to pursue careers in the trades. The region is home to Fleming College’s state-of-the-art School of Trades and Technology, and local labour market opportunities for women in the trades are booming.

 

Eligibility requirements

  • Single mother (19+), not currently living in a domestic partnership
  • Custody of at least one child under the age of 17
  • Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or Convention refugee
  • Residing in Peterborough City or County
  • History of living in poverty and/or at risk of housing insecurity or homelessness
  • No current criminal proceedings
  • No current addictions (one year sobriety)
  • OSSD, equivalent, or 1-2 credits away from diploma
  • No unresolved OSAP debt
  • Recipient of or eligible for OW benefits or Employment Insurance
  • Recipient of or eligible for OSAP
  • Able to participate in a full-time program
