About the Position

The Food Program Coordinator Volunteer will provide support in the execution of the weekly Food Bank Program while assisting staff with food distribution and site operations.

 

Responsibilities

• Assist staff with receiving, unloading, and transporting food bank items.

• Sort and organize food items before distribution.

• Communicate any concerns, client needs, or safety issues to staff promptly.

• Assist in maintaining a clean, safe, and organized environment.

• Complete additional site-specific tasks as assigned by staff.

 

You Must Be

• No educational credentials required.

• Minimum age of 16 years.

 

What You Bring to the Team

• Ability to lift, carry, and move items weighing up to 20 lbs.

• Dependable and punctual.

• Willingness to take initiative and follow established procedures.

• Ability to work collaboratively with site staff.

• Good communication and interpersonal skills.

• Comfortable interacting with clients from diverse backgrounds.

 

Shift Hours

• Every Wednesday.

• Morning and/or afternoon shifts.

• Approximately 3–4 hours every Wednesday.

 

Commitment

• Three-week commitment.

• Approximately 3–4 hours per week.

 

Screening Requirements

• Vulnerable Sector Screening (VSS).

 

Training

• Orientation provided by the Housing and Homelessness team.

• Site-specific training provided by staff.
