Media Advisory: WoodGreen to unveil newcomer-led mural at 1491 Danforth Ave. on World Refugee Day

(June 19, 2025) Toronto, ON – This Friday, June 20, WoodGreen Community Services will unveil Hope Grows Here, a large-scale community mural co-created with newcomer clients and led by professional newcomer artist Kseniya Tsoy. Spanning the side wall of WoodGreen’s Newcomer Centre at 1491 Danforth Avenue, the mural celebrates hope, resilience, and belonging — and is the culmination of months of community consultation and collaboration.

The unveiling will take place on World Refugee Day, with remarks from Councillor Paula Fletcher (Toronto-Danforth), WoodGreen leadership, and the artists and community members involved in the mural.

This project was a partnership between the of the City of Toronto’s StreetARToronto program and WoodGreen’s Newcomer Centre.

Location: 1491 Danforth Avenue (at Coxwell Avenue)
