About the Position

The Placement Student Supportive Housing will gain hands-on experience supporting vulnerable adults and seniors within a supportive housing environment. This placement provides exposure to case management, client support, community resources, crisis intervention, and housing stability services while working alongside an interdisciplinary team.

 

Responsibilities

• Support case management activities for vulnerable adults and seniors.
• Assist with client assessments, goal setting, and coordinated case planning.
• Support service coordination, community referrals, and client follow-up activities.
• Assist residents with activities of daily living and life skills development.
• Participate in resident engagement initiatives, outreach activities, and program delivery.
• Complete documentation and provide general administrative support as required.

 

You Must Be

• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program in Social Work, Psychology, Social Sciences, or a related discipline, or a diploma/post-graduate certificate program in Social Service Work, Mental Health & Addictions, or a related field.
• Demonstrated interest in supportive housing, community services, and working with vulnerable populations.

• Knowledge of senior-specific issues and community resources is an asset.

Shift Hours

• In-person placement.
• Monday to Friday, 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
• Occasional evening activities may be required.

• Approximately 21–35 hours per week.

Screening Requirements

• Resume review.
• Interview.
• Demonstrated interest in supportive housing, social services, case management, or community-based care.

 

Training

• Volunteer & Student Services Orientation.
• Department-specific onboarding.
• Training in case management principles, client support, community resources, and supportive housing practices.
• Ongoing supervision and mentorship throughout the placement.
