About the position

The Maintenance Student volunteers will assist the Building Operator and maintenance team with daily operational tasks while gaining practical experience in building operations within a community housing environment.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with routine building inspections and report maintenance or safety concerns.
  • Support the Building Operator with basic operational tasks, including organizing tools, equipment, and maintenance supplies.
  • Assist with work order tracking and documentation, ensuring tasks are recorded and updated accurately.
  • Help maintain clean, safe, and organized mechanical rooms, storage areas, and common spaces.
  • Provide general support with building upkeep tasks and operational checklists as assigned.

 

You must be:

  • Enrolled in Trade schools and or colleges.
  • Interest in facilities management, building operations, or skilled trades. Strong attention to detail and observational skills.
  • Ability to follow safety procedures and use basic PPE.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills, organized and reliable, with the ability to follow task checklists.
  • Comfortable using basic tools and performing light maintenance tasks. Basic computer skills for logging inspections or work orders
  • Physically able to walk in buildings and carry light equipment
