Program description
The Better Jobs Ontario program (previously known as “Second Career”) provides skills training opportunities for unemployed individuals that haven’t been laid off and have a limited previous work history. The program also focuses on helping individuals who may face barriers to entering the labour market to develop their “first career” such as newcomers, people with disabilities, youth, gig workers, and social assistance recipients.
Eligibility
You qualify for Better Jobs Ontario if you either:
have been laid-off and have not been working or are working a temporary job just to cover costs
have not been laid-off but have been unemployed for six months or longer and are part of a low-income household
This training program is specifically designed to address the potential challenges facing Women in Trades. Participants will engage in 14 weeks of CNC Training and receive Employment Skills Training to assist them in preparation to secure entry-level CNC/ Precision Machinist jobs.

Industrial Mechanic Millwright Pre-Apprenticeship Program
The Industrial Mechanic Millwright Pre-Apprenticeship Program is a FREE skills training program delivered by George Brown College in partnership with WoodGreen Community Services that enables students to explore and develop skills related to the Industrial Mechanic Millwright (433A) trade.

Building Code Skills Development for Internationally Trained Individuals
The Building Code Skills Development Program for Internationally Trained Individuals is a skills-training initiative that prepares participants for the role of Building Official with the construction and public administration sectors.

With English Language training, newcomers can expand employment opportunities and access government services and community resources. We provide child care during class and support with transportation expenses for our in-person sessions.
We work with Syrian newcomers, both individuals and families, to address their unique challenges as they settle in Canada. Services are offered in Arabic and English.

We work with immigrants and refugees to access affordable housing resources, employment opportunities and government services, including health care. We can also address questions regarding citizenship, permanent residency and work permits.
Designed for youth who are new to Canada, this program offers recreational, skill-building and mental health services, working with young newcomers as they make friends and settle into their new home.
This six-month, part-time employment program is tailored to the needs of clients with mental health issues. Sessions address workplace accommodation, disclosure, stress management and job maintenance, as well as practical job search skills.

A free, five-week training program for youth interested in a career in arts and technology. Participants learn the basics of video and photo editing, then design a social media campaign with instructor support.

This program offers a range of resources for newcomers and Internationally Trained Professionals as they settle in Canada, including career mentorship, job search strategies and language training with community volunteers.
This VFX training program is designed to give Black youth a competitive edge as they launch careers in digital compositing. Over 23 weeks, participants gain the knowledge and experience necessary to find post-production work. Training includes a six-week paid internship.
