Bruce/WoodGreen Early Learning Centre Success

Opened in 2002, Bruce/WoodGreen Early Learning Centre is a demonstration site for an innovative new model of early learning. Recommended by Charles Pascal, Special Advisor on Early Learning to the Ontario government, as the way of the future for child care in the province, Bruce/WoodGreen integrates child care and preschool for ages 2 ½ to 6 in a seamless learning environment – all under one roof.

A partnership between the Toronto District School Board, Toronto First Duty, Ontario Institute for Studies in Education and the Atkinson Foundation, the project continues to receive attention from policy makers, funders, educators and child care experts around the globe.

Families are excited about the program because of the high quality early learning environment, the team approach to care, and the flexibility the program offers to meet individual family needs. Children enjoy a warm, consistent environment where caregivers and teachers work together to support their learning and fun.
