Financial Empowerment

   Minimize

WoodGreen’s Financial Empowerment Program provides education, counselling and support to low-income members of the community who have financial challenges. We empower our clients with the knowledge and skills to manage their finances and make informed decisions about their financial futures.

We offer three free services to equip our clients with the right tools for financial success:

1. Income Tax Clinic

This is a Canada Revenue Agency supported Community Volunteer Income Tax Program that has been in operation for over 20 years. During the March-April tax season, volunteers prepare simple tax returns for low income clients at multiple locations throughout the East End of Toronto. After the tax season, the Income Tax Clinic continues to operate on a weekly basis and also helps people with more complex tax problems.

The clinic is located year-round at 815 Danforth, 3rd Floor.

Contact us at 416-645-6000 ext. 1187 or at taxclinic@woodgreen.org to book your tax appointment.

2. Financial Empowerment Counselling

This is a service for low-income clients who have problems accessing government benefits and/or banking services, money management issues, or general financial questions. Clients meet one-on-one with trained financial counsellors to learn how to manage their finances, find solutions to their financial problems and achieve their financial goals.
