Thomas Hofmann

Thomas Hofmann has 20 years of experience in financial management, business strategy, and mergers and acquisitions, primarily in the financial services industry.  He is now focused on volunteering in the non-profit sector. Thomas enjoys trading, travelling, photography and running. He holds a B.Sc. in biology from Mount Allison University, an MBA in finance from McGill University, as well as the CGA designation. Thomas grew up in Montreal and moved to Toronto in 1997.

Angelina Vaz

Angelina Vaz has a broad base of experience in the non-profit sector, including both volunteer work and paid employment in the fields of public broadcasting, food security and social service. Through these experiences, she has honed her skills in volunteer resource management, corporate development, and organizational leadership. Angelina is a former Executive Director of the Student Association of George Brown College, a student rights lobbyist, educator and service provider. She holds an honours BA from the University of Western Ontario where she was the National President’s Richard & Jean Ivey Scholar.

Diana Alli

As Senior Officer of Service Learning, Community Partnerships and Student Life at the University of Toronto, Faculty of Medicine, Diana Alli works to enhance the student experience in the Doctor of Medicine, Medical Radiation Sciences and graduate programs in Rehabilitation Sciences. In addition to 36 years of service to the University of Toronto, she is an active member of her community and volunteers in a variety of capacities. She is also co-founder of over 20 outreach programs serving marginalized members of the Toronto community. Diana has received a multitude of awards throughout her career and is a member of the Order of Ontario.

Betty Augaitis

Betty Augaitis has served terms as Chair and Vice-chair of the WoodGreen Community Services Board and is currently chairing the WoodGreen Community Housing Board. Prior to her association with WoodGreen, Betty served in the Ontario government leading policy and strategic planning initiatives at the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities, the Ministry of Education and Cabinet Office. Betty concluded her 20-year career in the Ontario government as acting Assistant Deputy Minister of Corporate Planning and Services for Cabinet Office. Prior to joining the Ontario government, Betty held various leadership positions at the Council of Ministers of Education, Canada.

Dr. Catherine Chalin

Dr. Catherine Chalin is a Professor Emerita in the Dalla Lana School of Public Health, University of Toronto.  As Professor Emerita, she continues to do research and education in the areas of global health, woman and child health, and refugee health services.  She has served on many community service boards in Toronto and hopes to continue contributing to community well-being.  Catherine spent many years in Toronto working with street and homeless youth, and in international settings with women, children, political prisoners, dissidents and their families. Catherine is an ordained minister in the Presbyterian Church in Canada and has served on the mission field and in urban and rural congregations.

Amy CharlesChiu

A sociologist and market researcher by profession, Amy CharlesChiu is Senior Vice President at Ipsos Reid in the Loyalty group. Amy primarily works in the area of customer satisfaction and employee engagement and is specialized in multivariate analysis and consumer segmentation. Amy has been an East End Toronto resident since her arrival from the US to Toronto in 1995, and came to know WoodGreen when her daughter attended the childcare program. Amy holds a BA in sociology from Rutgers University with honours and spent a year in Japan as a Rotary Exchange student scholar. Amy also has training in Gestalt having completed a four-year training program at the Gestalt institute of Toronto. She is a senior member of the Toronto Kendo Club and holds martial arts degrees in both kendo and iaido. Amy is also an active parent with the local school community. Recently Amy coordinated a Senbazuru ceremony, where children of Kimberley Public school presented 1,000 origami cranes to Japanese guests at a special martial arts event in a symbolic gesture of support to the children of Japan affected by the earthquake and tsunami.

Dionne Coley

Dionne Coley has a passion for education, advocacy and youth from assisting them to develop in their everyday lives to their professional goals. She obtained an Honours Bachelor of Arts Degree in Criminology and Sociology from the University of Windsor and a Juris Doctor Degree (Litigation Concentration) from Thomas M. Cooley Law School. Her campaign run in the last Municipal Elections (2010) for Toronto District School Board Trustee (Scarborough East) reflected her true passion for education and the community. Dionne is a licensed Attorney in the State of New York. She was called to the Ontario Bar in September 2011. Dionne is a Professor of law and legal studies and currently in the process of writing two books geared towards helping students study the law. Dionne continues to further her education and passion for missions work as she is completing her Masters in Divinity in Bible College. Her volunteer experience includes providing resources as a humanitarian in South Africa as well as mentoring youth in a diversion program from the criminal justice system.

Elizabeth J. Forster

Elizabeth J. Forster is a partner at Blaney McMurtry LLP where she practices employment and labour law. Elizabeth has been an active volunteer throughout her life.  She began her volunteer work at Princess Margaret Hospital, Toronto as a teenager.  More recently she has served on the board of the Alzheimer’s Society of Toronto and on the board of her church.  She is a past chairman of the personnel committee at her church and served on the personnel committee at the Regent Park Health Clinic.  She has also served on her firm’s United Way committee.

George Heos

George Heos is Senior Vice-President Network Development at Brookfield Residential Property Services. He has been in senior management positions in real estate, franchising, construction, finance and strategic planning at several restaurant companies over the last 20 years including KFC, Pizza Hut and Taco Bell at Priszm Brandz, Boston Pizza and Cara Operations which owns Swiss Chalet, Harvey’s, Kelsey’s, Montana’s and Milestones. George is completing an Executive MBA at The Richard Ivey School of Business in January 2012.

Mary Johnstone

Mary Johnstone has over 20 years of human resource management experience in the legal and health care industries with focused experience in income replacement programs, employment programs, community education and working with people with disabilities.

She holds a BA (Sociology Research and Family Studies) from Laurentian University, a MBA from Lake Superior State University, as well as a CHRP designation. She is a member of the Society for Human Resources Management, Human Resources Professional Association and the Toronto Law Office Management Association. She has a strong interest in the ongoing development of our diverse and inclusive community.

Kris Krishnan

A retired Financial Planner, Kris was a private banker for over two decades managing private client relationships for banks in the Far East, as well as here in Canada. A firm believer in giving back to the community, Kris volunteers his time on the Steering Committee of the Toronto City Summit Alliance and on the Board of Directors of the FindHelp.com. He has also formerly lead major trade delegations and steered the organizations growth across Canada as President of the Indo Canada Chamber Of Commerce.

Ian Tait

Ian Tait has been a Partner at Deloitte Consulting for the past 12 years. He is an experienced leader in the IT service industry, with over 28 years of experience in information technology. His background is primarily in IT strategies and architectures; project management and systems engineering experience. He has worked extensively across package implementations systems development, web solutions and systems integration projects. Ian was a member of the University of Waterloo’s Advisory Board working with the Engineering faculty. Ian has an M.Math from the University of Waterloo in Statistics and a BSc. from MacMaster University in Mathematics.

Jasmine Tehara

Jasmine Tehara is an Associate Vice President, leading the process improvement team for the Wealth Management business in TD Bank Financial Group.  Jasmine joined the bank as a part-time teller as a summer student and was a recipient of the TD Canada Trust Scholarship for Outstanding Community Leadership in high school. She has progressed through increasingly senior roles working in retail head office, as a Retail Branch Manager, and in the US division living in Portland, Maine. Jasmine has an honours undergraduate degree in Economics and Political Studies from Queen’s University, and spent a year at the International Study Centre at Herstmonceux Castle in the United Kingdom. Jasmine is a strong believer in giving back to the community and likes to be a part of innovative community organizations. She sits on the Public Policy Committee of The Learning Partnership and makes time to be a TRIEC (Toronto Region Immigrant Economic Council) mentor.

Alex Van Kralingen

Alex Van Kralingen is an associate at the law firm of Wardle Daley Bernstein LLP, specializing in commercial litigation and employment law. Alex has an honours undergraduate degree in Political Studies from Queen’s University, where he won a number of academic awards, including the departmental medal upon graduation. He earned his J.D. from the University of Toronto Faculty of Law, where he was a recipient of the Gordon Cressy Leadership Award for his contributions to student life. Alex has previously volunteered with the Child Advocacy Project through Pro Bono Law Ontario, which ensures that students are provided with due process when accessing special education services or are facing disciplinary measures. Before being called to the bar, Alex published on issues relating to electoral reform and constitutional remedies.

Heather Dawson

Heather Dawson is a healthcare leader over with fifteen years experience in strategic planning, research and quality. Currently Heather is Vice President – Service and Operations with NRC Picker Canada. She has previously held roles with the Health Council of Canada and the Canadian Institute for Health Information. Heather has also held leadership roles within hospitals, health planning and advocacy organizations. Heather has a Masters degree in Health Administration from the University of Toronto and is a Certified Health Executive.

Peter Fuller

Peter Fuller is a Chartered Accountant with a MBA from McMaster University specializing in Information Systems. Currently he works as a Controller for a group of Radio Stations across Canada. Peter also advises small and medium sized businesses on their offline and online marketing needs. Peter joined the CCEY Board in early 2011 to give back to the community; recognizing the importance of the future deliverability of health care.

Sarah Downey

Sarah Downey is a senior health care executive with more than 15 years experience leading planning and operations in several hospitals in Ontario. Sarah was recently appointed Executive Vice President at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health. Her previous position was Vice President of Princess Margaret Hospital at the University Health Network. Princess Margaret Hospital is Canada’s largest comprehensive cancer centre. Sarah has a Masters of Health Administration from the University of Ottawa and is a Certified Health Executive. She recently completed the Executive Training for Research Application (EXTRA) program through CHSRF.
